  • CULTURE

Our partnership with Strathmore Music Center.

The Strathmore Square community can enjoy spaces and programming designed to emphasize immersive lifelong learning. By integrating live performances, public art, and more, Strathmore Square is not only a place of residence but also a hub of artistic activity and cultural experience. When not indulging at The Square residents have access to a free Strathmore membership.

  • NATURE

    Well connected to natural inspiration.

Our centrally located civic park blurs the boundaries between our community and Rock Creek Park, where you can spend countless hours walking, running, or biking along the 32 miles of trails. Beyond enjoying the outdoors, our community was designed with a mindfulness of natural stewardship, from dark sky street lighting to community garden clubs.

  • CONVENIENT

Access what you want, when you want it.

When not taking advantage of the direct access to nature and culture, residents of Strathmore Square can easily commute via direct access on the Grosevnor-Strathmore Metro Station or the adjacent highways, like I-270 and the beltway. Spend the day shopping and dining at Bethesda Row or enjoy an evening of culture and entertainment in The District.

    FAQ

A sprinkling of commonly asked questions from our community.

HOW TALL WILL THE BUILDINGS BE?

The plans approved by the Planning Board and County Council call for a mix of building heights to accommodate the varied characteristics of the surrounding community. For example, building heights on Tuckerman Lane facing an existing low rise condominium development will start at 40 feet. On the west portion of the site on Rockville Pike, the plan allows for two signature buildings at a maximum of 300 feet.

ARE YOU GOING TO REPLACE THE 400 SPACES IN THE SURFACE PARKING LOT?

Strathmore Square will feature about 1.5 acres of neighborhood park space. Our vision for the park would feature open green space, active recreation space, trees and landscaping. The centerpiece of Strathmore Square will feature a plaza with places to sit, relax, listen to occasional outdoor acoustic music and enjoy neighborhood-serving retail.

WHAT IS THE IMPACT OF THIS PROPOSAL ON TRAFFIC?

As part of the Minor Master Plan process, an analysis of traffic impacts from this development on local roads and intersections was completed by the Maryland National Capital Park & Planning Commission, and it was determined that the existing road network can support the approved development for the site.

HOW BIG WILL THE UNITS BE? WILL THEY BE RENTAL OR CONDO?

It is too early to tell the exact size of the units. Strathmore Square may end up featuring a mix of rental and condo units with a variety of unit types including moderately price dwelling units. It depends on what the market will bear going forward.

WHAT ARE YOUR PLANS FOR STORMWATER MANAGEMENT?

Stormwater management ponds are no longer viewed as the best method for controlling or treating runoff. Newer methods incorporate environmental site design (ESD) techniques throughout a community. We will be incorporating the most current methods, such as biofiltration, permeable surfaces and bioswales on the property and will study incorporating techniques into buildings as well.
